Shipping a car in Florida

Florida is the top snowbird destination for Ontario, Québec and the US Northeast, so southbound demand peaks from October to December and northbound demand from March to May. Jacksonville's port (JAXPORT) is one of the busiest vehicle ports in the US, and the I-95 and I-75 corridors carry car carriers every day.

Main routes: I-95, I-75, I-4 and I-10.

Cities we serve include Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Naples and Sarasota, plus every other town in Florida: if a truck can reach it, you can post it.

When to ship to and from Florida

Hurricane season

Hurricane season on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts runs from June 1 to November 30. A storm can delay pickup or delivery near the coast, and carriers won't load or unload during an evacuation.

Peak moving season

June to August is the busiest moving season in North America: school-year moves, new jobs and military transfers all land in summer. Posting early gives you more quotes and more choice of dates.

Snowbird season in Florida

Southbound demand into Florida peaks from October to December and northbound demand from March to May. Post a few weeks before you need the car, and give a flexible pickup window; trucks on snowbird lanes fill quickly in those months.

Moving to Florida?

Once the car arrives, register it with the Florida HSMV (county tax collector offices). Vehicles coming from out of state need a VIN verification (form HSMV 82042) before a Florida title is issued.

Shipping across the Canadian border? Only companies that handle cross-border work will quote, and you'll need the ownership or title, ID and a signed authorization letter; permanent imports have extra steps. Each cross-border route page explains the paperwork.

Questions about shipping to and from Florida

How long does it take to ship a car to and from Florida?
It depends mostly on distance. As a rough guide, a car typically spends 1–3 days on the truck for trips under 700 miles and 7–10 days coast to coast, plus the pickup window. The table above shows typical ranges from Miami, FL.
How much does it cost to ship a car to and from Florida?
We don't publish price lists, because there isn't one right number: each verified company sets its own price for your exact pickup and delivery addresses, vehicle, dates, and open or enclosed transport, and sends it in writing to your dashboard. Posting and comparing quotes is free, and you never pay CarShipping247 anything.
Do you cover small towns in Florida?
Yes. You can post a pickup or delivery anywhere in Florida. Away from the main highways (I-95, I-75, I-4 and I-10), carriers sometimes suggest meeting at a nearby town or wide lot, which can make pickup faster.
Will my phone start ringing after I post?
No. Companies see the route, vehicle, dates and photos, but not your name, phone, email or street address. They answer in writing, and only the company you book gets your details.
